DVX100 hour meter question

I have the opportunity to purchase a DVX100B, and have been drilling the seller with lots of questions. One of the main questions was about the hours on the camera. The seller says that hour meter shows "00--" and no other numbers are available.

Would this be a camera that has never been used and has no hours on it, or would this be a sign that the camera hours have been tampered with? The camera looks very new and whether the camera was stolen or not has definitely been a question in our minds. Haven't directly asked the seller that question of course.

I've never heard of anyone hacking the hours meter, but I'm sure there's a nerd out there somewhere who could figure it out.
 
Yup, an unused camera will show 00 hours. How much is the seller asking? & what comes with the camera (manual, batt-charger-remote etc.) this will give you insight to whether or not it was stolen.
 
With the camera comes the manual, charger, 2 batteries, remote, and I believe he has the original box. Asking $1800, and I'll pick it up in person a couple of hours away from Houston. That sound like a good deal?
 
probably stolen, but who needs to know. Its like this guy trying to sell me an HVX100, I have 2 16g P2 cards and the HVX how about 3200.

Me: have you used it
Guy: I turned it on but I dont like it.
Me: So did you steal it or is it broken?
Guy: Um.. well I found it.
Me: right....

If its to good to be true it probably is.
 
lol. I agree. We'll see what happens. i'll see the camera tomorrow. ha, that guy's answer is funny "um . . . well I found it"?
 
If thats the case & now it really sounds like it's hot, as he "found" it, offer him a thousand cash on the spot & I bet he'll take it. You can use the $800.00 you saved on a good defence laywer when you get checked out one night filming & the cops run the serial number and it comes up stolen......
 
I was quoting AustinV's thread about his dealing with a shady guy. The seller I'm dealing with right now hasn't really said it's stolen or not. I'll get him to confess and then offer $50 cash. hehe.
 
Where can I find one? LOL I can never catch a break on getting a second camera something always comes up whenever I bid on ebay or find someone who is selling one. Oh well I say buy it while you can great deal if it really is new..

You know its stolen if he would take any amount of money. Well even 1800 is so cheap.

I was at the skatepark and the guy was there! Trying to sell it to another person. What a dumbass... hopefully he gets arrested.
