I assume that nearly everyone reading this knows about the AG-DVX100?
It was the first professional palm camcorder with manual zoom, a wide angle lens, and 24p support.
It has been a product that users all around the world have come to rely on daily, and is a product that we extremely proud of.
But that DVX100 has finally reached the end of production, although there may be some who would be surprised we were still making it in 2011. We tried to keep producing it for as long as possible for all the fans who loved it for its SD recording to DV tape, but since we were unable to continue making certain parts for it, we were forced to cease production.
Today, in certain regions, even used units are able to garner premium prices, and have become a kind of status symbol for imaging geeks.
In the nine years since beginning production in September, 2002, nearly 200,000 units of the DVX100 were used in the marketplace, producing untold amounts of wonderful content.
Thank you, DVX100.

Wow a certain sad reverence hits with this. Thanks for all you did for me DVX100.

That parts sourcing rather than lack of demand ended production in 2011 of an SD tape based cam is a major tribute to its greatness

We all owe a debt to the dedicated team behind the DVX100.
If only one camera can be hailed as the game-changer, the DVX was it.
Thankyou, Panasonic.

I wonder if the HVX200(A) is soon to follow...

Doubtful, I would think.
The DVX was introduced in what... 2003 or so? So it's been out in the world for 8 years.
By that timetable the HVX still has at least a few years left on it.
Granted, things have changed in the last couple of years faster than they had in the past... but I would still venture to guess the HVX might be here for a while longer.

That tape drive is definitely showing it's age though.

Thank you DVX100b, you were my first serious camera, you taught me much and are probably still the camera i enjoyed shooting the most random of random things to learn about framing, editing, exposure, color correction, and how to film a scene.

Cheers old friend! I am feeling nostalgic about an electronic device.....

Thanks for the DVX100. I started with the DVX100, then the HMC150 and changed my DVX100 for the DVX100b.

Still have it for clients asking for DV tapes.

DVX100A for me in March-ish 2004. I maxed out my credit card at the time to jump-start my film making. No regrets.

And now, let us bow our heads and take a moment of silence...

R.I.P. Panasonic DVX100(A)(B)
