DVX100 eBay Scam--Hilarious!!

OK, this might not be a legitimate "Marketplace" post but I thought it was funny enough to pass along.

I recently lost an ebay bid on a dvx100a and shortly after I received this email from someone I've never heard of. It reads:

We saw you'r bid for the Panasonic DVX100a and we would like to make you an offer. We wanna let you know that item is brand new in original sealed box (never opened) with all the parts and accessories included.Also,it comes with 1 year full warranty (both parts and labor). All the manuals and the original documentation (sales receipt and warranty certificate) are in english .F&S , means free shipping, that menas that for the final price( VAT incluted) , i will shipp the item at your home address for free.We could offer you the same unit to buy for 1.700 $ USD.

You will probably get a couple of those letters. I know I did when I placed a bid on one before I bought it from EVS.

Thanks for posting this--it's definitely relevant and heads-up for eBay shoppers. Since I'm not a mod here--could you please change the title of the post to something like "DVX100 eBay Scam--Hilarious", so we can alert people. Thanks.

I got an similar email a while ago when I was looking for a DVX100 on ebay. I asked the guy a question and this is what he sent back:

"The item is sold. If you are still interested I have another one, new and sealed too with all the accessories listed for the same price. I can make for you another auction on eBay with the same product (and accessories). I'll email you the link and you'll bid and win this new auction.

I'm in Europe, Romania right now. I have connections with a very important supplier for electronics who imports these products in large quantities for a very low price. As a payment method I prefer a money order by Western Union because is very fast. I have a Paypal account but is in US and I have to wait several days for the money to arrive here.

If you're interested please reply ASAP.

I'll be online.

PS: The product will come with US warranty and and I'll send it through UPS 2nd day air service."

Then, like a month later on a different ebay item I sent a different person a question about a DVX100 and got the same reply!

Hi everyone! Dont you ever buy anything from Europe specially from Romania!! This is what happened to me a year ago. I was crazy for the canon xl1s and this guy from "romania" was selling the camera for 1000 bucks (I was new in this ebay dealing thing) The guy wanted me to send him the money via western union. SO I sent him 400 and then I'll send him the other 600. Well everybody, I've never seen the camera. The guy never wrote me back, nothing. I was desperate. " I was very stupid" for trusting someone I didn't know.

Beware when people ask you to send them money via western union. Once you send the money there's no way to track that or make sure that you're getting your item. Just a little advise from a friend!.

I've bought items from England, France and Germany through eBay. They all arrived as promised. :-/
