DVX100 + Capturing?

Sorry if this has been answered before but my search led me no where...
is it safe to capture on a DVX100a/b?

or like the vx series should another camera be used for capturing to the computer?

any advice/ opinions are appreciated.
 
yeh its an issue beaten to death here :)

yeh u can capture with ur dvx if u like. alot of us use cheap mini dv cams for capturing but using the dvx is fine. Its pretty sturdy.

Just be careful if u have a 6 pin firewire port on ur pc to make sure ur pc and dvx is turned OFF when u plug them in. (4 to 4 pin is not a problem). Otherwise u can risk busting ur firewire port on ur dvx...a very common problem here.

nah no prob, though its true, i was just kidding. yeh i use a canon zr900. costed about $200 when i got it but i'm def sure that price has dropped since.
