I see in other posts that you CAN'T use the older DVX100 batteries in the new AF100 but the AF100 battery that came with my camera seems to be the exact same battery as what I was using on the DVX? They are both the same size with connector and are 7.2V 5400mAh. Can soemone confirm whether or not I really need to oder all new batteries for the AF100?

I took a photo my old official Panasonic DVX100b battery and the new one that came with the AF100 to compare. The BOTTOM one is the new AF100 battery.

Ah, I see it now :-( I didn't try to put the DVX battery into the AF100 yet until I checked here first. It's too bad you can use your old batteries. Thank you!!

You wouldn't want to use a DVX100 battery with any AVCCAM, even if you could get an adapter. The problem is that the older batteries don't give remaining time in minutes, so the camera wouldn't have time to shut down and close off recording properly. Yanking a battery from an AVCCAM camera while recording will corrupt that clip, so the new batteries are a matter of security. Frankly, I'm happy to invest a little in batteries to ensure I don't loose a critical shot.
