DVX100 Audio Droputs During Shooting.

Hi there DVX Fans!

I had my DVX100 for a month and didn't use it extensively (shot about 50 minutes so far).

This is what happens: while shooting in normal conditions, the camera (on the lcd display) gives me a (x) sygnal, meaning that the cylinder head is dirty.
When I go back and play the tape on that particular place, I notice the audio fades out quickly (for a second) and goes back to normal again.
The picture quality remains the same (perfect).
This happened 3-4 times so far.

Now, I read that you should avoid using the cleaning tape often (head wears quckly) and it doesn't make any sence because the camera is brand new and the picture quality is perfect!
Also, the tape used is a Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ (recommended).

Anyone experienced? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Take your tape recording and the camera back to the dealer for an evaluaton of the camera. Sounds like you may have a problem as this is not typical performance.

Hope that helps,

After I posted my question, I noticed a slight picture degradation during playback (blue parts of the display etc.). The manual says that this IS one of the first signs that the head is dirty.
I runned the cleaning tape once and tried recording and playback with the same tape afterwards. No problem so far!
Hope it stays like this.

Does anyone know (cause manual does not state this) the period of usage before you run the cleaning tape or you should just wait for camera to tell you?

I know it also depends on conditions of environment, tape and prolonged usage.

Thanks
