DVX100 Anamorphic Focusing Question??

So I got the anamorphic lens for my dvx100b and only now found out that it has focusing issues.
I printed out the Adam Wilt chart and the star chart, but i'm still not really clear on how to use them or how to focus in the field or what all this means.
So do i understand correctly that even though it may not appear in focus on my LCD screen, it will be in focus after it's un-stretched in FCP?
Is is at all possible to get crisp focus using a telephoto lens?
I'm shooting a doc in the desert and there will be times that i won't really have time to break-out my star chart. Anyone have any suggestions?
I read somewhere that someone reccomended popping off the anamorphic lens and shooting in squeeze when i need to use a close telephoto lens, would that match good enough in post?
thanks,
GUY

No. You need to learn the limitations of the lens and figure out the correct iris/focal length combos that you'll need.

I would never use a telephoto in combination with the anamorphic len.

close down the iris

it'll be fine.

so what should i do when i need to use a telephoto lens? should i pop it off and stick it in squeeze mode or letterbox?

I shot a feature length doc w/ DVX 100 + Panasonic Anamorphic and I just shot with it(using the eye finder): Day or night, wide open or stopped down. Worked fine. They loved the photography. I could always focus manually, selected the best focus and shot. Remember, NTSC has the resolution of a primitive cell phone camera.
