DVX y slow motion

I've got Barry's book and he says the way to achieve a good slow motion: shooting 50i (I'm PAL user) and then import the footage into a 25P timeline (what is a 25P timeline? I edit with Premiere and I think it doesn't distinguish between interlaced and progressive timelines... it is just a 25 fps timeline)

If we shoot like that in order to get slow motion we lose the 25P quality will that footage look very different from the rest of the film shot at 25P?

Isn't it enough to get slow motion by playing back the 25P footage at less speed into the nle?

Thank you very much for your help.

I'm sorry about New Orleans issue...

it will still distinguish between the two, in the way that the footage looks. It should be fairly straight forward, add your 50i clip into the timeline, and then slow it by 50%. You will notice a slight degredation in resolution, but for most people, the silky smooth slow motion more than makes up for it. Try it out, and see if it looks how you want. Slowing down 25P footage will result in very jerky slow motion, not always un desirerable, but not the same as slowing down 50i footage.

Thanks Scharky for your comment.

In the book it's said to shoot at a shutter speed of 1/100 but I must say this speed doesn't exist in my DVX. I've had to set the shutter at a speed of 1/120...

Do you think there could be any problem when mixing 25P and 50i footage in the same movie (for transferring to film etc)?

Kind regards
