I plan on buying a dvx but I was also looking at two other cameras. the xl2 and the fx1. I was considering the other two due to the fact that I saw how impressive they looked with a 35 adapter. But they all look good with a 35 adapter. so its hard for me to choose. So either the xl2, Dvx or The fx1
but If I get the dvx should I get the pal? whats the big difference between the ntsc model? lines of resolution if so by how much of a difference?

I was looking at the fx1 never thought of it before but since I saw the footage with that 35 adapter it looks good.
im kinda skeptical about spending money because Im kinda waiting to see what kinda hd cam canon comes up with
hopefully hdxl or something along the lines. but thats what im hoping for. but if I get the fx1 I wouldnt mine
waiting for a pricedrop. since my vx dropped $1000 after like 8 months to a year. but if you wait so long and then finally buy the
camera they always come out with another model better like right after you buy it? coincidence? I can wait for a hd cause theyre will probably be something better. canon should pull through. or maybe the next dvx.

no coincidence, thats just the way it is, if you wait for the next best thing you will NEVER OWN A CAMERA. I would go with a DVX myself, its at the lowest price since released (save for a used one) and the promos are just too sweet. I made my first 24p DVD a few weeks back and seing the picture fully justified my purchase. I dont know of anyone who owns a HD set, and Sony's quality has gone kind of downhill after the PD150-so that ruled out the FX1. And the XL-2, way to overpriced for that wrist snapper!

Check out imdb.com: the DVX has more entries in the technical category for cameras used than the PD170, VX2100, HD1, HDV (FX1) and the XL2 -COMBINED - 182

With release prices projected at about 8 thousand for the cam and the P2Card (to shoot HD) 6 thousand to shoot SD, its pretty pricey considering so few regular working folk own an HD display. And how do you show it? Take your camera over to each persons house? Whats it going to be the standard: HD DVD or BlueRay? Blue ray players are of limited availability in Japan for 2 grand!

The HVX makes me bloomers moist, yes-but right now I don't think its worth the money with the factors above considered. Now-when HDTVs and HD DVD players become more mainstream, in about 2-3 years, then yes it will be worth it- THEN. Sure theres more to the camera than the HD, but not that much more for 5 grand over a DVX!

If we can hold off that feeling "tech envy", we will find ourselves in a much more affordable situation -and a much wider audience. Me, I'm going to let the HVX get where the DVX is right now. It may take a while, I can wait.

I know but with adapters they all look really good. but im going with the dvx then. cause my neighbor has two and my other friend who is in film school in la. said to get that camera.
