DVX won't power on

I'm trying to turn my DVX on, but it won't. This happened to me once before on a doc shoot and just as I was about to freak out, I turned the switch and it worked.

Today I shot about 30 minutes of an interview, turned the camera off, hooked it up to my firewire connection, turned it on and it went on. FCP didn't recognize the device, so I turned it off, then slid the switch back on. This time, no juice. Nothing.

Has anyone had this problem? I don't know what to do other than to take deep breath in and try it again. If it doesn't work, I guess i have to take it to a repair center.

The worst thing is that my tape is being held captive inside the camera.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

same thing happened to me, suddenly no power, though it happened to me as i was getting the tape out - i had ejected without powering on the camera, the tape door opened but then i couldn't close it - i always power up before i open the tape now. luckily i was still under warranty, but it still took over 2 months for panasonic to return my camera.

well my situation is my dvx is not powering on due to a large amount of condensation getting in. I was filming a wedding at the beach and the waves were so strong that huge drops flew to my way and got on the camera. what do i do now? i dried it, dried it, cleaned out the sand. its still dead. is this it for my dvx?

It cost about $150 to take care of if its just the fuse, if its worse and you blew the VTR Board which runs around $700 to $900.

Get quotes from these two places in NYC. Both get there work done pretty fast but you will void the warranty if the camera still is under one.
