Well after waiting 7 months to save my money, I finally purchased my dvx100a today. I was so excited, at first, but I do have some problems. The first thing I noticed right when I took it out of the box was that it made this clunking noise when I violently shook it back and forth. This made me feel rather uneasy, however the camera did turn on, so I guess it wasn't all that bad. I then fliped the switch over to F6 and started spinning crazily around the room. When I played back the footage it was so stuttery that I thought I was watching a slide show, what gives? I then thought I would do a low light test. I turned off all the lights, shut the curtains and started filming my cat. To my utter surprise, even with the gain turned all the way up, all I could see were my precious fluffys green glowing eyes and lots of little ants or flies, dancing around the screen. I took looked away from the viewfinder but I didn't see any little flies (I really thought my house was being infested with the 7th plague). But when I looked through the viewfinder again, there they were buzzing around and attacking my little fluffy again. This made me really scared so I took fluffy and locked her in the closet. I then tried to do some zooming, but for some reason the zoom ring was really tight. So I moved it back and forth, I'd say about 300 times, really fast until it made a clicking sound and then it became really loose. It was now really easy to turn, but would for some reason only work 1 out of every 10-15 times I would try it. I think I must have a disfunctional camera. Nothing seems to be working right. But get this. I called B&H photo, where I got the camera, and told them I got a disfunct camera. They said no problem, just pack up everything back in the box and ship it back. I told them that I had already thrown away the box (I had opend the camera over 2hrs ago, sheesh) and I had already shredded and thrown away all the paperwork that came with the camera (I didn't want anyone to get my personal information from the warranty card). They told me there was nothing more that they could do, So I called the salesman an Ugly booger face and hung up the phone. So here is my question. What should I do now. Anybody want to by a broken dvx100a, I guess I could part with it for about $4200.
