I'd like to know that too. I'm getting ready to plunk some cash down somewhere to replace the items stolen from our studio. Also if you do offer a discount how do we claim it, is there a promotion code or something!

Here's what I did.
When I bought tapes, I simply placed my order, then emailed Rush (rush @ evsonline .com). He didn't catch the order in time, so the discount wasn't applied, but he applied it to a later order.
My last order, I emailed Rush first to let him know it was coming and he took care of it.
I think that the item you purchase determines whether the discount applies. It can range from a certain percentage to getting the quantity discount even if you don't order the required quantity. On all items where I compared prices, EVS was equal to or less than B&H even before the discount was applied.

Yes you gotta either phone or email Rush as they dont have a system to automatically set it up right now.. Plus its always great to talk to those guys on the phone anyways cause they are full of great advice.

As much as I like online stuff, whenever I can I always CALL. Call it job protectionism or whatever, but I hate things like those automated grocery checks outs and person-less online shopping.
If you are buying something from EVS, it would not hurt to ask. If you see your item for a higher price from them, they will consider matching a competitors. Especially if it is a big ticket item. Most places, including Adorama, Armatos, and B&H will at least ask someone for whatever you request.
A salesperson who knows what he/she is talking about is ALWAYS better. Have you ever tried to buy something at Best Buy? I feel for all the new mom's and dad's looking for their family's first video camera or grandma shopping for a digital camera. The people at places like that usually have no clue about what they are selling. They are in high school or need to go back to high school.
Radio Shack is another decent example of more knowledgeable sales staff. Anyone here work there? Yes, it is a major chain, but those guys have helped me with the lamest questions many a time.

About 6 months ago, I thought it might be fun to work part time at the camera/camcorder counter. I could only hack it for 3 days. I was sick of listening the other people blatently lie to customers. I was getting yelled at for not following suit. I may not know everything there is to know about video, but at least I was offering informed solutions for people. I said screw it and quit.
EVS is definitely the way to go.

Sorry guys, my schedule has been clocking me on the head with a large bat... 45 hrs a week at EVS, 30 hrs. a week editing, and some shoots on the side too... I guess gotta do it while I'm young.
Oh and one more, teaching camera classes for 5-7 hrs. week... That usually happens after EVS and before the editing... But that's the best fun.

I just ordered a Zoom Controller from EVS but I failed to mention anything about a EVS discount oh well maybe next time.
