Hi, ive come here to see your opinions on whether or not the DVX is the right camera for me. I got into film making a few years back through skateboarding, and back then was using some sony hi-8 camera, ive since got more serious into it (but still a newbie)and moving onto other cameras such as TRV900 and my current VX1000. i am planning to do a media production course at university next year (what particular area and course i am unsure of as of yet) and am currently doing it for a-level. anyway, over the past year i have grown out of skateboarding but still have a love for filming and have found the benefits the vx1000 gave me in skateboarding over other cameras are not things i would use anymore, so i have decided to sell up and look for something new. i already have buyers for my vx setup so know my budget and am currently deciing between vx2000/2100 pd150/170 or if my funds stretch that far, a dvx100ae or be. I plan to use this camera for personal projects aswell as college/university assignments, but would love to get into filming local bands music videos etc.

so let me know what you think would be right for me from your personal experiance in the areas im looking at or if it is too "advance" as i still have alot to learn in the areas of lighting etc. oh, and if theres any british out there who could recommend good site to buy dvx's then that would be great too!

yes i think its definitely right for you at this stage, i'm from the uk, check out proactive -been good to me, & creative video, both are official pany dealers & sell with 2 year panasonic warranty at reasonable prices

Yes, the DVX would be perfect for you. You wouldn't need to change your editing situation, and the DVX has all the manual controls you could want. For SD cams, it is the king for film production.

just checked proactive site & they got 2nd hand 100a version for £1286 with 17 hours on the heads, not bad, £1870 for 100b new. £1760 new at creative

cheers for all the replys, that £1286 100a sounds good, i will definatley look into that. im pretty sure DVX is for me, so just need to find one in my budget.
