DVX "successor" prototype from 4 years ago?

Yeah, I saw that thread a year ago. Not the same prototype.

I'm only mildly curious why they seemingly aborted or delayed the concept of a 24p SD card DVX level camera for over four years. They were right there...

Oh not the same? my bad. :) They were gonna have two super 8 style cameras? Haha,

They probably never produced this because I think they are trying to go all HD now, and the HVX was the overall result of this SD card effort. A DVX level SD card camera would just eat up the sales of the 100b and HVX, and would only appeal to those trying to decide which of the two to get.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. It is weird that they had the pistol grip in two mockups and neither one came through. And I really wonder why they didn't include 24p in the HSC1U or the HMC70 when they were planning on it in an SD card model way back in '03...

And why on earth is the HSC1U in their pro line, anyway? I want to know what professional market that camera appeals to...

That camera turned in to the HVX. I'd imagine they sat on it, knowing HD was around the corner and that if they debuted a flash-memory professional level SD camera, they'd show their hand before HD came out. The HVX has started a revolution that the other cameramakers are still scrambling to get on, they would have blown their lead if they'd debuted this camera when it was still SD.
