that looks pretty sweet. what about a shoulder mount though? wouldn't you need one to make the handles come in handy?
 
I grew up in Japan. I split half the year between University in Vancouver, and vacation and video work over here in Japan.
 
Man... it looks like you need to upgrade your tripod, and why is there blue sharpie on your LCD screen? Sweet design. If I ever get a 35mm adapter, I am just going to do a DIY rod system... Can you buy the shoe that holds the rods and attaches to the camera or do you make it too?
 
Yes that is my crap tripod. My good one is still in Canada :( The blue sharpie is a signature from Dave Filoni Director of the Clone Wars when I met him in Tokyo. I didn't have anything else for him to sign so he said he'd sign my camera. Haha.

But yeah Im really pleased with my handles, I just need to finish the shoulder mount now :S

In japanese they call them "rubba crampu" which translates to Rubber Clamps. Most of the stuff Americans use in their DIY models aren't available in Japan so I have to improvise with what they sell here--but I'm sure you could find something similar.
