DVX sensitivity

Hello.

I have a question about sensitivity between PD150, PD170, DVX100b and the HVX200.
I am trying to choose between a PD170 and a DVX100b. Both are about the same price and make great pictures.

The spec are not that clear and are probably marketing department distortion anyhow.

PD150 2 lx f1.6
PD170 1 lx with F1.6 at 18 dB gain
DVX100b 3 lx f1.6 18db gain, video output 50 IRE
HVX200 3 lx f1.6 12 db gain shutter at 1/24

I have a PD 150 and a HVX200. I bought the HVX last summer to replace the PD150. I was disappointed with the sensitivity of the HVX based on what I normally shoot. Therefore have not used it very much at all and may sell it.

96% of what I shoot is still DV and most is available light in offices under florescent light with a little quick fill on close ups. Also factory floors, warehouses
and other really dark places (think coal mines). I use a minimum number of lights and I have not shot above 6db gain in any of these situations.

I come from a film background and understand ASA and ISO a lot better than lx.

I use to shoot with ECO, 25 ASA tungsten and a ton of lights. I have become very spoiled with the digital cameras.

I have done a search of the sensitivity topic on these forums and I do understand the PD170 is better in low light than the DVX.

The question is: How much slower is the DVX than PD150 in the real world, less than a stop, 1 stop, 2 stops? What about gain up? Any other gotchas?

I apologize for the long post and for posting to both the DVX and the HVX forums.

Thank you all.

Dan
