Hi.
I am in the final stages of a film I started 10 years ago, shot partly on DVX100A and part on Canon C100. The film went to an Online Colorist and I feel that he went way too far in the "cleanup" of the film. Sure, the blacks are black, whites are white, its less grainy and noisy, but I feel as though he went way too far in his color correcting and the film lost the lovely film-look, pastel colors, and dreaminess of the DVX100. Its now sharp, etc. and with good range, but no longer "filmic" and more "video" looking.
I actually like the offline much better and now have to go back to the Online editor and re-do the edit. I am wondering if anyone has tips on how to cleanup the footage and keep the "look". Are there any films out there shot with the DVX100 that I can refer to and refer him to that have great quality color and look?
Part of the problem is finding a balance with the HD footage from the c100 and DVX footage so it flows together, and keeps the film-look...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks. David
