Re: DVX on camera light

great light and thirty watts is a lot with this fixture. Just wrote an article about it in my newsletter.

Re: DVX on camera light

Re: DVX on camera light

I use a Frezzi 75w, and truthfully I usually have to dim it down to about half. So a 35w frezzi might be fine.

Re: DVX on camera light

Thanks to all
I´m undecided about to buy a Frezzy MF - 4x 75 w.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=77692&is=REG

or the frezzy MRF-4X 30 w.

I want to use one of these fixtures whit its softbox, and a 1/2 + 1/2 CTB (great article Walter), so the prices and the sizes are similar, but their wattages are enough different. My question is if the 30 watt Frezzy is my fixture for all purposes and shooting conditions (weddings and docs)

thanks again.

Re: DVX on camera light

How about getting the 75 watt unit and then keeping a 30 watt lamp and switch them out when you need to?

Re: DVX on camera light

Definitely the Frezzy 75 w. is my fixture. thanks.

Re: DVX on camera light

Just keep in mind that the DV series light they sell is 30 watts because DV cameras can not handle the load of a higher wattage fixture. If your camera doesn't have a battery that can handle it (DVX), I always suggest a battery belt or something like and Anton Bauer battery and their snap on belt. WIth it you can power not only the light but the camera too.

ColdPyro,

How much was that light?

And also, do you NEED a battery belt? How long would does the light last on a regular battery?

Its my stations camera so i think it was around 500 including batteries and the softbox. You can get 40 minutes out of it with a normal NP-1 Battery

I just got a Bescor 645 50w dimmer light from EVS for around $270 w/ barndoors. Its a kit w/ battery and auto charger, and you get about 85 minutes of full 50w light per charge. It's definately bright enough for most anything youd want to use an on cam for. Anything more (as a matter of fact, even at the full 50w) would blind people.

Daniel;

Have you used the Bescor light yet? Do you like it? That seem pretty reasonably priced (cheap) for what I'm wanting too.

Also, can you post the URL for it..., I'm having trouble finding it. I'd like to see all the specs on it.

I bought a Bescor MPL635 from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=304487&is=REG) and I LOVE IT.

The pack is heavy, but with lights, heavy pack means more time! I'm not a big fan of the glass daylight filter, since it's not as easy to remove as I'd like. But, for the price, you won't find a better light.

To tone down the intensity, I use a diffusion gel (it came with my Lowel kit, so I'm not sure which diffusion gel it is).

Yessir, and it is definately a good piece of gear. More than enough watts to blind people and the barndoors add a lot of usefulness.

B&H is where I found it, but Rush at EVS is who I got it from, for the same price. Just call him up (off today) and give him the model, tell him its the same hookup that I got. EVS hasnt stocked them before, but he's gettin about 10 of em since they turned out so good....I'm very pleased. Using it for weddings receptions and any other videography job I might get that calls for it. If you want one thats got a dimmer make sure it comes with the 645. A lot of BH dimmer kits say they come with the 635 but its a misprint and they were supposed to correct it. The 635 is not a dimmer light. But I'm convinced that any of these Bescor lights are awesome for the price.....everything short of focusable.

BTW, the battery pack is indeed heavy, but will give you 85 min runtime at full 50w. If you can deal with less time for less weight, get the kit with the NMH battery at 1.5lbs. The starved electrolite I got is 5.5lbs, and you definately feel it. Doesnt sound like a lot, but I'm going to have to pull out my Total Gym to get ready for business...my back is just too weak from my extra weight.

Iron-DAN !

If folks are interested in the AK7ATM, you can place an order with me at rush@evsonline.com, I am trying to get a few orders going so I can get the management to stock up on these units. As always DVxusers get a discount and we will beat the B&H price.

Rush;

What price can you get them for?

Also the pic doesn't show the battery pack? It'd be great to see ALL the components that come with this kit. Anyone have any pics of that?

Yessir, if you go to the link I provided and look below the picture of the kit, you'll see a tab thats says "included items" or something to that effect. Click that and it will take you to links for the major components of the kit, including a link for the battery, but it's actually bigger than it looks in the picture.

Ok, I see the pics now...cool. But now I'm confused about which model to go with.

JChenier mentioned the Bescor MK-12ATM @ $260 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=304487&is=REG), and Daniel mentions the Bescor AK7ATM @ $265 (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=304492&is=REG).

Theres not much difference between the 2 in terms of price or features..., anyone got any input here.., why and how to pick one over the other?

Suggestions would be appreciated. Also, btw.., this discussion is not limited only to these 2 models, I'm new at this...so all help is appreciated!

Thx much!
