DVX Noise Reduction

Hey,

Been a while since I last posted anything. I have a neat update. A while back I posted a clip of people in a car, and people didn't like the noise in some areas of the frame. Here is the original post.

I listened to your comments! Here is the original clip with editing details:

Here is the noise reduced clip:

All clips were compressed using h.261

So what do you think?

Looks great, how did you achieve that?

I used a grain reduction effect in After Effects 6.5 pro. It's pretty new. If you use it right, it can give some pretty good results.

now that's nice...dramatic difference from the original original to this...wow.

What do you mean by original, as in from the raw footage to the final noise reduced clip, or as in from the non noise reduced graded clip to the final noise reduced clip? Blah, what a tounge twister!

Can you get the same results from FCP 5.1? If so how?

I personally don't use FCP, I'm an Avid Adrenaline editor by day, HOWEVER, even at that 100% of this work was actually done in AE6.5 Pro. As far as I'm concerned, it's the poor mans version of a Davinci 2K http://www.davsys.com/2kplus/index.htm

First I made "power masks" on the darker skin tones, then I adjusted all of the shots elements relative to each other, then a curves and color balance adjustment layer over everything, followed by another adjustment layer for the noise reduction effect. Pretty powerful stuff.....

:) well sorry about that, but i did mean the original. the untouched uncorrected footage. i mean the transformation is really incredible.
