DVX music video

Sebastian,
Looked at your web site. Nice stuff there too! I really liked the look and feel of the "my soul to keep" piece.

Two questions for you:

1. How did you create the entire effect shown when his foot splashes the puddle? Specifically, how did you get that nice shake look in there?

2. What kind of lighting did you use when he was sitting in the car at night?

Thanks man and keep up the good work!

Those were some nice walking shots, following here into the house. Did you do those handheld or did you have a glidecam? The colors on the close-ups were nice. The song and video worked well together. Good stuff.

Hello!

i shot it with DVX100AE and I used the century optics x0,6 wideangle lens on some shots. the "steadycam" shots were made with handheld camera(!) and I used "steadymove" a plugin that stabilizes shots.

Tha puddle in "my soul to keep" was made by filming it with a high shutter speed and i used slomo, i think 20% of original speed. then I shook the shot by hand in after effects. (I scaled it a bit, then I animated it frame by frame, first big movement then smaller and smaller changes)

The night shots were made with flourescent work lights. One big outside the car and one small blueish handheld hobbylight inside, taped against the passenger seat (as you can see if you watch carefully ;-))

That was filmed with a SONY TRV900.

Thank you all for your positive responce BTW :)

Sebastian,
Thanks for responding to the questions.

Where can I find this "steadymove" plugin that stabilizes shots. Do you have a link to it?

Thanks man!

awesome music video... I would never have figured out it was shot with a DVX

what camera settings did you use?

Wow, that looked very crisp and clean. That is hard to believe that you shot those walking shots handheld. That must be a kickass plugin.

"OK..Why the TRV900 for the night scene rather than the DVX100AE?"

That was the only camera available to me at the time (a friends) I shot the whole piece with the TRV...

On my site there is only the ambessa video and this new one shot with the DVX. the rest is filmed with various cameras including the TRV, PD150 and PD100.

Ohhoh! Wonderful stuff! I really enjoyed this music video! It's great to see what's filmed with DVX100!

Thanks for the link and congrats our neighbour, heheheheheh! Jätte Bra!

About that plug-in, does it take a hit to any quality and how useful do you find it?

Also, excellent job. I love the color correction on the close ups when its darker. Love that look. Great video.

Dude that was neat and very clean! Who needs a muthaphucken stedicam when you got the steadymove plugin! I have never used this plugin before but it sure looks better than my steadicam shots., :(

Good stuff man!

yep, there is a degradation when using that plugin. The amount depends on how shaky your original footage is. The way it works is that it actually zooms into the frame and uses the extra space as a cushion. If you were to view the original footage, you would see a wider shot than the one stabilized.

amazing smoothness without any noticeable degradation! You must be pretty darn steady handheld. The stairs shot was the BOOM DIGGITY! ;)

Fantastic work as usual, Sebastian!
