DVX Music Video on MTV

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

The video was great! Wow. Looked very filmic. Tight editing. Very moody. Almost gothic. Great job!

The music sucked so bad. OMG I cant even believe people listen to this garbage. Speed Metal is such a bad idea, even Metallica realized the need for change. And a chick singing speed metal? Bwhahahahahahahah! Unbelievably crap.

Honestly, I really thought the video itself kicked ass!

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

man that chick singer scared me :)
good work on the video though, nice lighting and editing.

I'd like to see it but when I get to your website there's a box with the following message.

"Sorry, but the page or the file that you're looking for is not here."

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Awesome! I just bought my 100a and I am still confused with this 24 and 24 advanced. What mode "f5 or f6" did you shoot that video in? DId u edit with FCP? If you did what setting did you did you capture in and edit in? Very very impressed! So for asking so many questions, THanks Dave

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

that song makes me want to hurt something cute.

Awsome video though. Good job.

;D

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Glad you like it. Yeah I'm not a huge fan of this type of music either but hey, what can ya do? Anyway, everything was 24pa. I don't remember what F preset it is, I customized all the settings. But I think the preset for 24pa was F6. Everything was edited in DV with FCP4. Some of the trickier compositing was handled in Commotion. Not sure what else there is to say.

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

hmmm....

An all-female hardcore band? I smell a gimmick.

I'm with John, the music TOTALLY sucks ass. Actually, the music itself isn't bad until she starts 'singing.' I've heard quite a few hardcore and death metal bands whose musicianship is unbelieveable, but they absolutely RUIN the music when the start their growl and howl. One band in particular even had spectacular lyrics. Too bad you couldn't understand a single word, I had to read the liner notes. I think a lot of bands in that genre are self-defeating.

But I can understand why some like this stuff. It's just not really my thing.

The video was very tight. I really need to learn the compositing to create these looks, cause I'm so used to doing stuff in-camera. Thought I saw a cobra crane move here or there! :)

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Jester, great job. Tighly edited and composited, nicely shot.

Couple Qs:

1. was the slo-mo just done in FCP?
2. what crane did you use?
3. any on-camera filters, or all in post?

Thanks and great job!

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

LOL Jester

Well you come out with shining stars! The band however...

Shhhh... Dont tell them!

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Woah! Great vid. I really enjoyed everything about it. I loved the weird blurring and streakign effects you used on the band and I really really liked the look of the shots in the house, very filmatic (as previously aforementioned ;) ). I also wanted to say that you picked an unbelievably beautiful location for the house shots. I thought it the whole thing was gorgeous.

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Man, I am still getting some tripod error 404 page or something like that. Why am I not seeing any video...

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

It still says " page missing etc" everytime - any ideas :(

How are you guy's seeing this ?

im on a mac by the way

Re: DVX Music Video on MTV

Wow I havn't checked these boards in a while, sorry bout that. We shot most of the video "clean" and added effects in post, FCP of course. I built a lot of the equipment we used like the dolly and track and stuff. We just had to rent out the underwater housing. Underwater work is not easy at all. All the slowmo was either in camera 30p to 24p and the rest in FCP. Oh and no there was no cobra crane. Ha!
