DVX/M2 Feature Production Journal

Hey, great play-by-play of your shooting... reading through it quickly though, I'm struck with one question: what's up with your HMI's blowing up? Seems like every week you're mentioning at least once that your lights are failing. Are they old? Bad manufacture?

Awesome stuff man, I was having fun looking through them all.

One question though. Are you using that extendable arm so you can flip the monitor over? I can't remember if that monitor has some sort of flip feature on it or not or if I'm just dreaming.

I though the same thing. I use that same monitor with my M2 and it has a flip feature built in.

Awesome, I had decided on that monitor a few months ago for some reason or another and bookmarked the page. I just got it today, no time to really play around with it yet, but that's a nice little suprise.

Dougspice: The 575 and 1200 HMI are Lee. They were bought used from visual products. They both worked in the beginning and the 575w I have used in basically every scene since. The 1200 however doesn't strike right now. :crybaby:

I am talking with VP about the problem. I think that Lee and VP are great, there is just something wrong somewhere.

Also I had a Britek kit which after a good 30 days of shooting has pretty much given out. I rebulbed the 650w twice and it basically exploded last week.

Ryan T: Yeah the Varizoom is great little monitor. It has a flip option but I have a Noga arm and I just flip the whole monitor upside down. It's actually easier to use like that, especially handheld.

Unix: No all of this pictures are from the monitor or just of the actors. We are holding off on showing any footage/grabs for now. When a trailer/teaser is cut I'll definitely post that.
