dvx low light and concerts settings

I just go t my dxv100
Not thrilled with what I can make it do in Low light in 24p

Soon I need you shoot a concert.There will be no lighting rehearsal. I cant get close and get crowd shots, crowd dark , stage who knows.
what settings do you recommend some say auto everything, some say it still wont be faster than person and presets, what preset settings would you set up?

Should 60i and high gain be chosen over 24p and only 12db of gain?

How do I make the camera go to 18db?

Should I iris auto or not iris auto?
 
Hi Stevil,

I've shot a lot dance concerts over the years with my DVX100a and what I shoot in is 30p and I expose for the stage lighting. For the most part I don't use any gain and if I do it's usually 6dbs. If you can't manually white balance do a preset 3200k. I shoot manually and ride the iris from 2.8 - 5.6. 5.6 is the sweet spot. Detail -3, V-Detail -3, Coring +3, Master Pedestal -3. I've gotten really good results. To change the gain value, you'll have to do that through menu setting and assign dbs to your low, medium and high switch. This is of course from my own personal experiences. Once you do a few concerts you will get the feel for it.

Pray for good stage lights! Who cares about the crowd anyway unless you can get some shots from the stage. I've aways shot 24p

Yes, I'd like to know that too. Very first concert shoot this Friday night (a couple of church groups performing).
Lighting could be sketchy, but don't know until I arrive (using their lighting). Thanks!

Salvo, how about your chroma level, chroma phase, and color temp settings? I'm in F5 scene file at 24P, cine-like gamma and matrix. Does that change everything? Looks like my shutter speed will be more like 1/48th? Thanks!
