DVX lens protection with Letus!

I was just reading about someone who had a scratch on their lens. I use the Letus a lot. But, sometimes I take the adapter off and use the camera by itself. I was wondering if other people use a lens filter while having the adapter at the same time so as not to scratch the cam lens? It seems like the lens protector would make the adapter stick out way too far.

Or, maybe I should just put the lens protector when taking the adapter off. I'm always worried that I'm going to scratch my lens when putting the Letus back on since it has to be rotated pretty close to the actual glass.

No, you should no use a UV lens when using an adapter, as the adapter will be all the lens protection you need.

It's the putting and taking off the adapter that worries me, I guess. I'll definitely be getting a lens protector to use without the Letus.

I have a UV lens on my DVX and put my Letus over top of it... works perfect

I will be getting a protective lens regardless. Thanks for the info coffee. If it fits then I definitely want it on the whole time. There may be more light loss but oh well...

The first thing to do when buying any camera is to buy a uv lens filter to protect your actual camera lens from dust and scratches. Once I put my on I never take it off.

Will do for sure.

Protecting your camera lens is critical. My only issue is putting a crappy bit of glass onto the qualiy leica lens. Any glass in front of the lens can in theory bring the image quality down, maybe not even at a perceivable level, but it can.

I put a filter on the DVX then screw the Letus on the filter. This is because I feel the thread on the filter is machined better than the Letus so has a cleaner fit. That way if the thread wears out, its only on the filter, not my DVX.

Done! Now I can sleep at night. Wait -- still working on lighting with adapters. Who needs sleep anyways.

I just got my Letus35 Flip Enhanced and with the 50mm lens it's heavy enough to do damage over time, even with a UV filter. So after a day of shooting, I decided to get the IndiFOCUS and IndiRAILS from http://www.indifocus.com You may want to give those products a look.
