DVX Lens Flop Sound - Footage Now Super Out of Focus

Hey Everyone!

I had been pretty active in this forum in its early years, now I'm making a return because I'm having a DVX issue!

DVX worked fine this morning, as I discharged a battery.

Got to the shoot, pulled the camera out, and turned it on. The lens made this huge FLOP sound. (kind of like how it does when its off, but it was as I turned it on, and about 100 times louder). The camera is SUPREMELY out of focus, it is essentially just a giant blur. If I had to guess, it seems like the whole focusing mechanism just fell out of place.

I saved the day by shooting on the D90 and using the DVX to record the audio, which seemed fine.

Has this happened to anyone else? What is the fix? What caused it?

It makes me nervous, if this was a big shoot, I would of been screwed.

Insight would be awesome!

Thanks.

seems like your cam has developed a mechanical fault in the lens mechanism. Rush to a service centre for repairs before you get more mechanical damage on some of your lens internal elements (like scratches due to misplaced parts). It doesn't seem to be a complicated job for technically competent people. It could just be that some lens element mount got loose by transportation vibration. You might not need any replacement parts for the fix, so that might speed up the repair duration at the service centre.- Regards.
