As I warned users here before, they WILL check for business use at claim time. I personally wouldn't do it that way. I'm insuring 5 times that much stuff for only 3 times that price and it's a business policy with liability coverage as well...
Whats wrong with them checking for business use? I told them I had a small business. Thats why they asked me how much I made a year doing it. And I specifically asked if this covers equipment only when on a paying gig, and she said no. Covers it all the time.
I emailed Safeware a couple of weeks ago and they told me that they only insure computer equipment. Is it a matter of insuring your computers and adding the camera to the policy?
Well, I just called them and created a policy and got my camera covered starting now. (Even though UPS won't drop it off for another couple of hours. BTW EVS rocks). It took about 15 minutes. I told them I have a computer that I use for video editing, and a camcorder that attaches to it. I got $6,000 worth of coverage for $200 a year. I think they will cover up to $10,000 at that rate. The person I spoke to was (and still is) Kim, and she was exceedingly nice.

It doesn't cover outside of the US and Canada, but you can get an addon, where you pay $135 for up to 90 days or something when you leave the country. $200 deductible.

800-800-1492.

Re: DVX Insurance

Well, got a letter from state Farm saying that they are adding a 100 dollar deductable to my policy. So I called my agent and asked her whats up.

Well, they made changes to the "Mercantile/Service Policy" with a 100 dollar minimum deductable on the commercial Artlicle Floater.
The good news is that the also made a change that has commercial Articles Floater fall under the 1,000,000 liability policy which is only about $150 per year. Which means I dont have to pay the $450 + equipment insurance floater.

Anyway. to sum things up. I have the same coverage, (1mill liability and 20K equipment) with a 100 dollar deductable for only 150+ per year.
Sounds great to me. And they cover the equipment any time. Pesonal or business.
