DVX in extreme temperates

I know condensation is bad for electronics generally. I'm hoping to use my DVX on the street here in Beijing during the next few weeks, but it's humid as hell and the temp is up around 100 some of the time. I'll occasionally be moving from outside to indoor locations that are air conditioned. Is that going to destroy my camera?

And might as well ask -- if this project pans out, and I haven't been arrested yet, I will also probably be spending some time on the street this winter, so...same question, I guess.

If it is an issue, how can I combat it? I do transport the camera in a bag, obviously....

I use my DVX for shooting ski movies. Going from the cold East Coast outdoors into the nice, toasty lodge is the killer - condensation appears on cold objects in a warm environment. I notice all the time once I bring my camera inside that it feels slightly moist, and I see fog on the lens and LCD.

What I usually do is to let my camera acclimate once I go inside. Once you go in, stay in for a while. Sometimes I'll even open up the lens/LCD/tapedeck/VF just to expose as much as possible to the new temperature. Once it has properly "cooled" and "dried" you can start shooting again.

I think you'll be fine in the humidity. I haven't had any problems so far shooting in heat. However, those winter conditions may get you, and you should just play it safe.

Good luck man,
Milos.
