DVX image quality blown up

I think everyone can agree that the dvx image is amazing - but i have a few questions that i would love to get opinions on.

Lets say you use the dvx for a feature film and the film gets picked up for distribution and will be shown on the big screen. How well will the image stand up to being blown up that big? Since it is a digital format will pixalization occur at a 35 mm multiplex movie theater size? Will it look as great as it does at smaller sized? Any ideas of what would happen?

Now I will throw a wrench into the discussion - what about if you shoot at normal 4:3 and then letterbox in post - how will that effect it when its blown up if the letterbox is removed from the print and the usable image is blown up to full screen.

Id love to get a discussion going on this.

thanks

the film "november" was shot without the anamorphic and uprezzed later.. holds up fine.
alot uf us who have seen DVX on the big screen will tell you the same.. its not 35mm but it does hold up quite well.. alot better than 28 days later. i wouldnt sit front row , but from middle to back is pretty good. anamorphic would be better if used right though. it holds up well enough to not be adistraction to the story, thats for sure.. and near the back of the theater id say it looks great. of course it all depends on what the imagery looks like to begin with and all that jazz, but if its a good image it can translate to the big screen well if given a good transfer or preojecton or uprez to hd for digital projection and such. even straight SD projection looks good enough if done right.

I just saw two films that were shot with the DVX and blown up. They were Murder Ball, whitch if it comes to your town go see it. And another film that is called In Memorey of My Father. They both look really good. But you can tell it was shot DV. Colors are not as viberent and there is artifacts. Then we saw a movie shot on the Vari Cam and blown up and there is a big difference. Can the DVX be used and blown up. Yes and it dose to well. But if you can get the budget and think you are going affter distributers shot HD.

You can see DVX footage on 35mm at your local theater. Write to Marcus Van Bavel at www.dvfilm.com and ask for a copy of their demo reel. He'll send you a 35mm film print that you can screen at your local theater (obviously you'll have to make the arrangements). There's some DVX stuff on there, with the anamorphic adapter and letterbox mode with the mini35.
