DVX Hour meter reset?

today i was out in the cold with my dvx when i put it back in the bag it had accidentally got left on for a little while but not very long and when i turned it on just a little later the hour meter had reset from 490 to 00001. at that point it also turned itself off after a couple minutes but i let it sit and that seems to have gone away . i was planning on selling the camera this week is it alright that the hour meter reset or is this the sign of a problem

Keep it in a warm/room temperature environment and take out the battery. If that doesn't go away, then you could just tell the buyer how many hours it truly has. Just as long as the camera isn't working properly.

If the cams get exposed to extreme conditions they sometimes loos memory of everything since day one and think they are brand new. This happened to the one at my school after a student was shooting a skiing video. (according to the footage the camera took a dive a few times) it happened to the other cam one time when a student was shooting at 4 in the morning out side. The came got droplets of condensation/due on it. Both still worked fine after that for at least a year until i graduated. I treat my personal cameas with care and havn't seen it again, but it does happen. Just be honest with the buyer. the hour meter does not indicate failure on the rest of the camera.
