My dvx has problems during playback, there are blue lines across the screen and some lines that contain the footage but they are pixelated and messed up. I ran a head cleaner a few times, no use. I manually cleaned the camera with head cleaning solution and some head cleaning swabs (going off of Barry's guide http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=6888) and still nothing. Is there anything else I can try before taking her in :embarasse

i doubt it. you may have a bad head. i just had to send mine in becasuse after cleaning it manually, usuing the blank tape method and cleaning tape...i still had problems. To replace the heads it would have costed me $750 at Robbs Repair (very good service). but i was under warrenty still. So you may just have to send it in.

Test playback with another camera. This will tell you if it's your DVX, or a problem with the recording (which could have been a one-off recording-head clog that your cleaning fixed).

The problem described at the top of this thread sounds similar to one I'm having. I've tried the tape in a couple of cameras and it plays back the same: alternate strips of two pieces of footage. However, when I rewind and FF, one of the two strips changes - it can be from earlier footage on the tape, later footage, or just plain black.
There's no issues anywhere else on the tape at all. Has anyone got any advice on what this problem is, or how I can capture it and make it look normal? Please check the attachment and tell me what you think!

That is head clog.
There are 2 heads on the drum in the camera, and they access those alternating "stripes" of the picture. If one is clogged, then you get that effect.
If you've tried playing back the tape in multiple cameras, then unfortunately that's probably occurred during recording - Meaning that it's unrecoverable.

By cleaning either with a Cleaning tape, or then (in more drastic situations) manually by someone who knows how.

Same problem here... I saw the "dirty head" warning... cleaned it following the Barry's guide... Now the issue is "blue lines across screen" while playing footage right after recording. Please Note that ANY tape that the same camera recorded BEFORE the warning PLAYS like it should.
I read everything that was posted before and there is a little detail I don't understand: if the 2 heads are responsible for the alternating stripes why are they READING the digital data off the old tapes during playback just fine and when they have to WRITE the new data one of them is not doing its job? Are they SPLIT in two (each head)? ...meaning reading/writing of the tape is achieved with different portions/sectors of the same head? I'm sorry if I'm getting too technical... just trying to "see it" in my mind and make sense before I freak out and look for a service center.
