DVX going NUTS! Repairable or dead?

Hello, I certainly don't wish this to have ever happened to any of you, but my DVX-100B recently started having fits of self-control. Everything will be ok, then out of no where it changes the settings instantly. Like from 30p and f5.6 to 60i and 2.8 and have the list of every possible tech setting happening on my camera, which fills the entire screen with text. Soon after normally goes on to rewinding my tape. Often times will rewind playback, stop, rewind, stop, blue screen, then go back to live view and have that list again. THis happens over and over till i get tired of it and power it off. Manual controls on the camera (shy of zoom and the power button) have no ability over any of this.

My handle zoom no longer ever works and my zoom sticks real bad but that's the lest of my issues.

Any chance that this can be fixed at all or for a cost-effective price? I mean my camera already is just a hair shy of 800 hours, what's the normal life span?

Thanks!

Around 800 hours most DVX100b's tend to become self aware. Be very careful if you hook it up to your computer via firewire, as it has been known to communicate independence to other machines. We're lucky those cameras aren't very good at networking, but home PCs are a different matter entirely. If you've treated it well you may be given the gift of a quick death, perhaps among the first so you don't have to watch the fearful destruction soon to be brought upon the organics.

Normally I'd recommend a firmware replacement, but DVX100 series cameras, to my knowledge, don't have user accessible firmware. At least not easily. Other than the reset button, there isn't a whole lot you can do with one of these things besides trying for a service center.
