First, is there a way for users to change the theme/template colors on the forum?

Reversed color text is much harder to read. This forum has grown so much over the years, I find myself reading a lot on here, and props to Mr. Land and everyone else responsible for keeping such a wealth of information available, but this light on dark thing just kills the amount of time I can spend here.

I'm active on other active forums, and have uber support for this type of communication between people, sharing ideas and spreading good information, but the colors on this forum cause an eye strain (more for others, less for some).... I think lighter text on dark backgrounds is ok for some art type of sites, with less text to read, but DVX user should put up a poll to consider changing this. The majority of books aren't printed with a negative text for a reason, it's just too hard on the eyes.

Change that grey post box to a hexi CCCCCC, use that dark blue on the edges of this site for the font and your hits will go up.

thx

Hi David, thanks for responding. It still doesn't change my opinion of the way the board looks, and it doesn't mean that other people haven't thought of it subconsciously.

Ask any web designer and they'll tell you that negative text, given in large quantities of information, is not the best for readers eyes. There is some debate on this topic, and of course color is a personal choice... if you are so inclined Google the subject and see for yourself.

Maybe I can restart my thread, and ask "Can we have a theme switcher installed on the site" so people who like to read without the inverted color scheme continue to visit.

I have never heard the complaint before either... plus you can just select text and then read it in blue or print it and read it in black and white

Oh come on guys, just because you never heard the comment, you're going to just throw it aside and give some half witted remarks? Select text and print it, jeez man.

It's not that hard of a tweak to install a theme switcher. The web is all about user options, not being hard set into specific parameters. You know, style sheets, RSS feeds...this ain't 1997.

Guys, there's not a "problem" reading it. You just don't realize the benefit of reading non inverted text. It's a matter of personal preference folks, but look at any high traffic site that cares about it's hits (has real designers behind it, not filmmakers) and you won't find inverted text. This isn't a slam against the folks who run DVX User at all...

So..how bout a POLL that asks people if there should be a theme switcher for the users? It's not an out of the ordinary option for a heavily visited forum folks.

And considering that we're the biggest site of our type on the web -- bigger than dark text/light background sites -- I think we see where the flow is.

Are ya'll going to continue to post in this thread that I locked???? :)

Worst of all... it is starting to have flow over the debate of whether or not it has flow
