DVX for a Z1u

Hello,

Im considering going into HDV and the Z1u has been quite the eye candy for me. I like to know anyone here has switched from a DVX to a Z1u and:
Are you happy about your decision?
What are the quirks that you have to get used on the Z1?
Personal issues as in quality and performance over the DVX?

Just considering, but still love my baby

I use (or at least have used) both. Bar the fact that one is HD and one is not, I prefer the DVX. There are a few features I love on the Z1 - expanded focus is great (even for SD); shot transitions are wonderful; zoom is good; and the LCD is really nice.

However, the Z1 somehow feels like a large consumer camera with a bunch of optional manual controls... unlike the DVX which feels like a little professional camera, and has some lovely touches (like the white balance button on preset toggling between sunlight and tungsten - PANASONIC THAT IS AN INSPIRED TOUCH!). The DVX just seems like a more user-friendly tool for the professional.

Having done the switch from the DVX to the Z1, both have disadvantages and advantages.

Z1 Pro's:
Great looking picture in HD for the money, but it is pseudo HD
Great lens
Love the expanded focus
HDV and DVcam

Z1 Cons::
60i and that's it No 24p
Slight motion artifacts on faster moving content

DVX Pro's:
24p ...need I say more
Very reliable and great consumer support

DVX Cons:
Only DV
Shorter Wide Angle and Zoom

If I had a choice again, I would buy the DVX and rent the Z1...or hold out for the HVX(which is what I am going to do and sell the Z1)

Hope this helps.
