DVX footage transfer?

Hello everyone,

I'm a rookie, so please forgive my inexperience. My friend (who owns a DVX) and I shot a project in 24P. He gave me the tape, so I can edit it on my Powerbook. I have a Sony DCR-PC120 camcorder.

Do I lose any of the great DVX picture quality, if I use my camcorder as a deck to capture from???

This probaby has been posted before.... sorry :)

It will download fine. It's digital so no loss in quality.
Main issue will be are you editing 23.98 or 29.97?
Was this 24p or 24pa?
What editing software?
 
I am using Final CUt Pro HD, and we shot in 24P.

Is it true that the DVX records 24 frames but converts it to 29.97 fps on tape within the camera itself?
