Not so fast, Mr. Unix. Your greenback isn't doing so hot lately. That $27,000 might have been pocket change five years ago, but now it'll put you out around US$23,000.
There is a college in Los Angeles called LA City College. They have an assc degree in filmmaking (1 year gen ed, 1 year film). Out of state tuition for the film program is only 5 grand. Not bad at all. Plus, they have the reputation that more successful filmakers are coming out of there than any other college, including UCLA, USC, and NYU.
Thought I might try it out next year. Hell, it's cheap and I got more of a chance making it it California than Washington

Looks like they make money selling the gear to students. Buy wholesale . Sell to students at retail.

One of them said that the camera is "only 3.5 ounces". [/quote]
OK, I checked out the DVX100a that they're giving to students. It DOES weigh 3.5 ounces!!! It's a fake cardboard DVX100a shell made in Inner Monglobia which actually contains a Kensington VideoCAM VGA inside! The nerve of these Hucksters!!!
