my dvx 100 fell off the top shelf, in a not very protective case... seems to work alright except when you put a tape in the camera makes ugly noises and the tape light still flashes... so icant record to tape... anyone had this problem? i know i will have to take it in to get serviced (at least i think) but i am a really broke college student... so if anyone has had this problem and knows how much it costs to get fixed then let me know or any other fixes...

more than likely you have misaligned the heads and tape path... also could have knocked some servos out of spec. a trip to the panny hospital is in order...

please dont ever store sensitive electronic tools high up such as this camera... good case or not..

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your troubles...
Marctronixx gives good advice, mine stays in it's case, on the floor, between my desk and client couch.

Take the pimp hand outta retirement and make her pay for it - stuff like this has happened to me before , "Monte - put the canon up on the shelf so I don't run over it while vacuum!! *insert more pointless nagging/bitching here*"

"ok..."

2 hours later I hear a crash

"Whyd you put the canon up here, it's probably broken now thanks to you!!"

"Godamnit - SHUT THE **** UP"

Then I proceed to start headbutting/dropkicking everything in my path - only to tire myself out after my berserker frenzy and I generally pass out in the Tub...

I recently dropped my DVX a few weeks back that made a similar grinding noise as you describe.

Cost me $1000. And mine COULD RECORD.
