FEATURE: DVx Feature locks Distribution! Official BLOOD TIES movie trailer

Thanks for the kind comment too, Kely. We're definitely rich with passion and I know you are too. So happy to see you find the right partner for Blood Ties and I can't wait to hear about what's going to go down with Kerberos for distribution as well.

Hope you had a great holiday and here's to a Happy New Year for both of our projects.

The Long Road is ALMOST over! haha Or just beginning!

The Long Road is ALMOST over! haha Or just beginning!

BLOOD TIES is finally out the door!

The final disc and artwork has been sent out, the new website is up, and my 17 year old Aussie student and future film editor extraordinaire Tara Sloan has finished a Blood Ties promo made from only from frame grabs from the movie!

Her BT promo is meant as a portfolio piece as she applies to film school in Australia later this year... I think she did a great job in creating and showing/intriguing the story and showing off a bit of the production values! I gave her full rein to create and interpret how ever she wanted... the music is from my Blood Ties score and ends with bad ass AU rockers Gretchen Lewis... "Hard Floors and Rivets" from their album "A Night In The Devil's Bed."

I personally don't remember ever seeing anything quite like it... :) Remember - 17 years old and in the middle of bumble-f$%# Australia!

Our distributor Afterlight Pictures is investigating dozens of avenues and working almost as hard as I've had to to get this movie out there. Lots of news coming!

We have remixed the entire sound track and score, it's actually in sync now!

I post and write extensively on post production techniques, and also up-rezzed the film with techniques and formulas that definitely take it to another level!!!

This was a miniDV movie - shot on the DVx100 - it now looks remarkable (I've seen it projected on a 50 foot screen) and just as important for me - it plays properly as 16x9 HD on a high def tv without manipulation or zooming - so I don't have to worry about people playing with bizzaro aspect ratios etc...!

The menus rock, and the buttons even work right! haha -

There are no special feature other than the commentary - as you can maybe imagine, making a 20K action movie in 3 countries with a crew of 1, and spending 3 years on post - I have a lot of stories to share!

I appreciate all the support from the forum over the past couple years - and hope I am able to contribute something worthwhile.

Soon, I get to help promote and brag about DVX members like Martin Kelley and his movie and release of "Step Off!" Coming from Lions Gate in just a couple months! Check out his thread and trailers - this is what it's all about!

My friend and colleague Stan Harrington is moving in to production on "Perception." Stan is known across the international festival circuit as an extremely gifted writer and actor... "Perception" is his finest work yet!

I'm genunily humbled that he has asked me to co-star in it...

I'll soon be posting about my next feature as well... time to take it all to a new level!

If you get time - check out the New BLOOD TIES MOVIE site

Good Luck all!

Congrats! The Blood Ties guys are some fellow Atlanta DVXUsers that I've had the pleasure of knowing for several years. Glad to see their project hitting the distribution phase! BEST OF LUCK GUYS!!

Kely,

Nice to hear that you're really in the can. I'm working on stuff as I type to get the "Step Off" DVD completed as well for our March date.

Can't wait to see it again with all the new work that you've done on it. Congratulations again!

Thanks to all

Thanks to all

Yeah - the thousands of files, and the 9 terabytes of BLOOD TIES source files and renders can be packed away... being done over the past of years, those are made up of drives anywhere from 160GB to 300BG...

I guess I exaggerated a bit when I said it existed on 23 hard drives... there are more... :)

Thankful to all the knowledge and support I pick up and have enjoyed from the members here.

I am excited for my friends like Martay who is obviously doing it right on "Step Off." Check out their new ad!!

I know I sometimes feel bad about posting all my different projects on the BLOOD TIES FaceBook page - and it makes sense others do to... so we've started a community page on FB made for ALL OF US top share and post... and of course I posted links to DVUser - the preeminent technical forum of the world for filmmakers...!

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Indie-Film-Projects/168308929880212

Feel free to post and link your projects - and of course take advantage of the success, ease, and power of FaceBook...

Time to move on to my next projects... first up "Perception" with DVX User Stan Harrington...

Then Anthony McHie's "Passive Fist."

And BIG News coming on my next directing efforts!

I'll keep you on the good and the bad as BLOOD TIES hits the World on February 15th!
