I have mixed feelings about this one for many different reasons. Ill start with the song. I kind of liked it a strange kind of portis head way; different for sure; spacey; surreal. The vocalist is kind of hot in a black eyeliner kind of way. But I am leaning towards having to talk myself into liking the song and in thinking the girl is hot and I kind of want to like them.
Which is kind of how I feel about the video. I see some elements in the piece that are nice but there are so many different styles in one video It felt kind of like an 80's piece. The contrast seesm to jump from being too bright to being just perfect and then jumping into the black and white high contrast grainy effect. One second its shutter speed central and the next is like a public access video segment.
So, like the girl and the song; I feel like I have to talk myself into liking it when I dont really. I do see elements I do like which is what has me wavering.
There are clips in this piece that appear to be perfectly exposed and in total composition and flowing from Post just right; but this was intermittent. It feels like too much as if there is no visual style but alot of styles crammed into a short area. This is what distracted me; as if I could never get into it or appreciate it cause when I started too it changed to something I didnt like.
I think with a set vision and game plan of style this would have worked better.
On the Hudson Scale I give it a 2 of 5.

I think it probably would have been more artistic and creative to have just had her jump around the roof of someone's apartment like an ass while shooting handheld vomit cam, and then cut to a redundant shot of some chick with pierced lip walking by a bus, a gate and down the street.

No, in fact you havent said much of anything except to act like a Troll. One thing I try and do is give my honest critique on anything I review; thats the least I can do and expect the same from others and with your comments its easy to see that you're not to stoked on the DC Video which is of course fine.
I take it you read my review and thought "Well gee, that wasn't a nice thing to say....." and your recourse was to basically call out that DC work as defense?
If you hang around here long enough you'll see that everyone is pretty mellow and that no one likes the occasional Trolls and Ass Monkeys that drop by.

I think it was way over edited though, some of the cuts where timed a little off, however You pretty much pulled out every effect you can, in fact if you cut this on Vegas you should almost enter it into the Vegas contest this month, it almost looks like one of those "look what our NLE can do" videos. I think perhaps if the digital effects where cut down just a tad, it would be a steller video. The shifts from looks kinda interupts the story being told. Girls kinda cute, and has a nice voice.

I did notice though that your flying the Magicam without any weights, have you tried weighing the camera down? It looked like you had the movements right but the front end was just a little light.

Seriously though Blacky, I'm flattered that you would pay so much attention to our video (****, I didn't even remember she had her lip pierced lol). I am a little offended that your criticism was not very constructive. It's so hard in forums to get honest and constructive feedback...most go the PC route "Great stuff...lookin good!". To me constructive criticism is 100 times more valuable than a compliment.

Jarred it was a total run-n-gun situation. there were some weights but what was missing is the monitor and battery that will go on the bottom. That house had a lot of trash on the floor. But more Practice Practice Practice! with the Magiqcam.

Yes I wrote directed and edited this with input from Celeste Lear. I am not offended, I am amused. My day job is a VO director and SFX designer music composer and editor. One of my demo reels

You think I could create this in a home movie crap toy like Vegas? I cut it in AVID. honestly!
2. "You pretty much pulled out every effect you can"
I used 4 effects! that is every trick in the book? I doesn't take a certificate in reverse engineering to determine implementation of some basic effects.
3. Effects got in the way of the story, what story? it is a music video. They don't generally convey much of a story. I guess they taught you to use that line in film school. Did they teach you to sometimes avoid cookie cutter work?

cell 1. band jumping around on roof
cell 2. band jumping around on roof with mcu on guitarist with mouth hanging open
cell 3. homely girl looks at camera in front of hot dog stand
cell 4. homely girl looks at camera walking by gate.
4. Story? yes music videos don't have much of a story but at least some theme would help. Connect the girl with the band maybe?
My advice pay an experienced director to avoid the above.
