DVX driver updates?

No, there are no drivers for the DVX. It's just seen as a standard DV camera by your computer. There aren't any drivers or patches you can install on your computer that will treat the DVX any different.

If you're talking about the internal firmware of the DVX then the answer is still no. It can't update itself via the Internet or anything like that. Any changes to the internal software of the camera would have to be done by a service center.

Sounds like what you're asking is if you can update the firmware in the camera itself. If so, then the answer is still no; at least not on the DVX. I believe the HVX has that capability.

And your point is what exactly? That the DVX should be made so poorly that it has to have its firmware constantly updated to fix bugs? No thanks. I don't really see the lack of firmware upgrading capabilities as a problem.

I'm finally getting an image I like with my DVX and Premiere Pro 2 combo. Since there are soooooo many settings issues with this digital 'film' world, I wanted to know if I had the latest firmware IF it was something to update.

I wish the DVX section of this website had a Scene Files area.
 
To upgrade the DVX firmware you have to replace both the Camera Main PCB and the VTR PCB. You're looking at just over $1000 for a firmware update. So the question you have to ask yourself is, Do you really want that formware update?!

A sales person selling me a gray market AG-DVX100B for $1749 told me that the $2700 kit comes with the American firmware disk... I didn't bite... but I'm curious about this gray market (intended to be sold in Japan) firmware version and the "American firmware" (if there is such a thing)... anyone got the last word on this?
