DVX don't bounce

Hey everyone,

So today my DVX with full steadicam rig got knocked off a C stand by a client. The viewer door is wacked out of fitting right but screen still works, but the big problem is the back focus is hosed. I can focus at 45 mm at about 30 - 60 feet and nothing in wider zooms. I have the Mac 3 year warrenty but bet it will not cover drop damage. My question is if anyone else has had this happen & what their experiance was. I can send it to Panny, but I need it ASAP and can't afford a replacement now.

Is there a different option ? Adderess for Panny service, secret in & out quick pass word ? Anything ? Jan ??

I feel like opening it up myself ...

And don't tell me I'm the first to have their camera knocked over ... or I'm I ?
Sorry to seem pissy but you can feel my pain.

Thanks in Advance,

Steve

Bill Turner mentioned a while back that the lens in their prototype received at Century Optics was held in by only three screws.. Bet you could find the thread in the search function and maybe get some ideas on how to fix it... Tinkering with a camera is risky business, but as you've said, it's already broken.

Warrenty is generally for faults in manufacturing. Dropping the camera is hardly the manufacture's fault (unless the Stand broke...) :-(

Don't for get to check if your or the client's insurence will cover this. (as they *did* knock it off.)

Is the Steadicam ok?

Good luck, hope you get it all fixed up.

if you have a steadicam and were hired by the client then im sure you have insurance on your rig/accessories and the client also has put you on their insurance.

have them fix it ASAP and have it overnighted. also, go to a local rental house and rent a dvx and make sure the production eats the cost. dont even try to tinker with the servos in the pana..
