DVX Clips from Afghanistan

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

Great work Kia. It's so nice to see a day in the life piece without a CNN slant, just honest footage. I,m certainly interested in seeing all you can post. It was very inspirational stuff. Thanks for making my morning a better place :) :) :)

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

very nice work kai. I dont know if i would have the guts to point my DVX at guys with machine guns in Kabul.

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

Great work Kyle! where's the score? ??? ::)

I'm always interested in seeing your work; feel free to POST whatver you have!

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

why was that guy laughing at your name?  I guess Kyle is not a popular name over there... ;)

that clip is the real deal.  you would never see that on TV (even thought we should from time to time).  tells a different story.

did you color correct?

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

nice.. i like stuff like this.. plain and simple.. honest. some really nice camera work in there, and great compositions.

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

Thanks guys ;)

It was a real blast to be over there (no pun intended). The people really were so interested in America. The kid laughing at my name was pretty humerous. They think American's talk funny, I suppose haha. They seemed so greatful for being set free, & it was really humbling to see how they live over there. The poorest ghetto here in America is cakewalk to how these people have to live.

I can't wait to go back...

I'll post some clips from Nepal (bordering Tibet) in the next couple days...

Kyle-

Thanks for posting, wonderful work, and it shows people as they are, just doing their thing.

I nearly cried for joy when I saw the classroom full of women of all ages. That really made my day.

How is it that you find yourself in Nepal and Kabul?

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

Hi Kyle,

It is always interesting to see how place like Afghanistan, where people are living humbly, like you said, compare with what we are use to, to see the beautiful images we can grab from those country. May be in all that comfort we living, we are just not looking at the simple fact of life.

Re: DVX Clips from Afghanistan

I'm glad someone else understands the monumental importance of that. Under the Taliban, women weren't allowed to be educated, or even show their face or ankles. They faced the threat of being stoned or beaten. This particular school trains widows and orphans. I'm glad it made you smile! :)

I do all the media for an international ministry/aid organization. I took a 3 week trip hitting England, Dubai, Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Thailand, Hong Kong, and back around. I was documenting all the projects currently going on through the ministry around the world on video and photo. It was life-changing to say the least!
