DVX Cameras out of sync for no apparent reason

(This is not a video-audio sync issue)

For the past 6 years I have been hired to shoot the same stage production. I always use two DVX100's - one stationary wide, one moving close-up. This year was no exception, however, after capturing the footage for the two shows that I chose to edit, I ran into a problem I've never experienced before: I am unable to sync up the 2 video angles for the last half of the one of shows. If i sync it up the two angles on a video marker at the beginning, the two angles will be several seconds out of sync near the end.

We change tapes during intermission and there is no sync issue with the first half of the show (before intermission). There are also no issues with the entirity of the 2nd show.

So my question is: Assuming both cameras were set to the same framerate (24pa) and both angles were captured properly - advanced pulldown removed, no dropped frames, no reported "long" frames (according to FCP6), what would cause this?

Also, I've recaptured both tapes twice already to no avail. If anyone has any other obvious quick-fixes, I'd be extremely thankful.

Circumstantial Information:
1 DVX100 @ 24PA, 1 DVX100b @ 24PA, 2.5GHz Quad-Core Mac Pro w/ Final Cut Studio 2, OS X Leopard, NTSC video captured using FCP's automatic advanced pulldown removal.
