DVX blew up

question...does the Panasonic warrenty cover for the explosion of a DVX?...cuz uhh...mine kinda did...i was filmin...near a fire for my movie...and for a stupid reason...i tripped over a metal pole lying on the ground that one of my friends didnt move cuz he knew i was gonna step there..then i fell..(dont laugh)..its funny i kno...then i fell...and it fell into the firey pit of doom id like to call the gas tank..and like...it blew up...luckily i had no good footage in the camera at the time. But would Panasonic cover something like that or is my life over?

ok..now u can laugh at me......i deserve it...
 
IIRC, the warranty only covers defects...What you are talking about is usually covered by insurance....sometimes.

I feel so bad for you. It took me soo damn long to save up for my DVX100 too. How much does filming insurance usually cost?
 
Typically stories like that start with the phrase, "So my friends and I had too much to drink and..." I feel bad for you. Any chance one of your friends is rich? You can buy a used DVX for about $1,900.

Any photos of the camera? I think we'd all like to see the body.

You can handle it! Hang in there, buddy.

We must view the body of the deceased DVX! If we see the bloody truth then maybe we will ALL be more careful the next time we're shooting near a fire and gas tank. It's a public service. Shock us so we'll learn.
 
i dont have a foto...damn i should of taken one..i didnt think of it iwas like too depressed...i threw it out already. Jus think of a DVX like this...Lens broke in the middle...melted edges...handle curving upward....think of a wax DVX gone wrong...lol

question...where would i buy the used DVX for $1,900? because i only gatta save up a little bit more till i can get it.
 
What should I look out for when buyin it? What certain questions should I ask?

i know it has to include Barry's Book...and Magic Bullet..but anything else?

...wait...nvm..dont those two thigns come with brand new ones? not used?
 
It's a long shot but some credit cards offer some type of insurance. Don't suppose you bought it with such a card.

If you already have renters/home insurance tagging on the DVX is fairly cheap (for your next one)
 
Yes, the book and software only comes with new orders. Unless the seller bought the book and Magic Bullet and wants to throw it in. That's possible. Just ask whatever questions you're curious about. How many hours? Is everything operational? Are there any scuffs or marks on the surface? What extras can they throw in?

When did you buy your last DVX? Scott might be right. Maybe your card covers it.
 
good point about the home owners insurance. But since you don't have the camera anymore,,,no proof.
