DVX-B Questions!!

I made a thread similar to this a while back, but I need more detailed answers now.

I'm getting ready to buy my camera and I was wondering..

Are there any upcoming deals I should know about before I buy? I'm wanting to buy from an authorized dealer at the lowest price I can. I missed out on Willoughby's 2500 with 500 rebate.. but is there anything like that coming up? I would love to get a camera at around 2000.

Next, I'll be needing some lenses. Can anyone give me specs on what lenses I will need? I'm going to get a century optics .6x wide angle lens, I know that much. But what thread size do I need? I know nothing about this technical stuff as of right now, so please help me out! Direct links would be EXCELLENT! Thanks!

I don't know what lenses I'm looking for as of right now. Just anything to shoot some shorts with. I'd also like some fish eye lenses if anyone could link me to some good ones.

I have about 1000 to buy my lenses and accessories with.. what would you guys suggest? I was thinking; case, tripod, and lenses.

If anyone could point me in some directions with some links.. I would be so appreciative!! Thanks so much!!

I got my DVX100b from beachcamera.com. they are not authorized, but I did get the rebate slip in the box, it is a dvx100bps and it was $3075.00, i'm waiting for the rebate. I notice there is another DVXUSER that also got his from beach and he received the rebate and goodies.

You'll need to get any lense or lense accessory that has a 72mm thread, i'm not sure about step down rings?

When you are choosing a wide angle lense converter, make sure you find out whether it has zoom thru capabilites or not, depending on what your needs are. Zoom thru converters are like twice the price of non-zoom thru lense converters.

A case and tripod will definitely be key. Here's the tripod I got $494 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=5136&A=details&Q=&sku=387808&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation, It currently comes with a free camera case, although I can't comment on the case cause they forgot to ship it.

It has been recommended by other dvxusers as a decent lower priced unit.

Whether or not you get your camera at beach, I would recommend getting most of your accessories from http://www.bhphotovideo.com or another reputable store.

I'm quite a noob to the dvx myself, but I have gained much knowledge here.

Hope that helps some. I'm sure you'll get better responses from other members.
good luck

stepdown or stepup ring lets you use a lense of a different mm size, although I'm not sure how well or if it works with dvx.

If a lense adapter is zoom thru, then it will allow you to use your zoom completely without losing focus, non-zoom thru adapters lose focus as you zoom, therefore the cheaper price. I guess it depends on whether you plan on utilizing zoom or not.

As far as buying a dvx, I read the other post about after april, the price dropping to 2900 with a 900 rebate, you may want to wait so see if any one else can verify this, might be worth it.

Can anyone school me on some tripods and jibs? What are some good brands? What will I need to get a good functioning jib? Do I need to buy a new head? Will a tripod come with a head? Etc.. thanks!!
