Question: I wouldn't need tapes ever again for my dvx if I had that firestone? It captures directly to the hd?

yeah i was wondering the same thing.

I thought the firestore was for the HVX... how'd you use it for the DVX100b?

also, just wondering, that rode ntg mic, did that have a built in shockmount? was it a good mic for the dvx100b? I have the AKG long mic, but no shockmount, was thinking if I should just buy a shockmount or the Rode NTG.

thanks,

JM

Yep ... you can use the Firestore for the DVX. Plug it into the firewire connection set to output. Captures straight to the hard disk in the editing format you want to work with including 24p. I never used tapes with my DVX so that is why it has no hours on the tape heads. Plug the firewire cable from the Firestore into your computer and your NLE will read the files straight away - no waiting - since the data conversion takes place at the time when you are shooting.

I like the sound from the Rode and in it's price range it was a real value. Using an external mic on camera is a mistake so I always used the Rode attached to a boom pole or mic stand.
