dvx and firewire 800

Alright, so My school got a new Mac Pro and all the firewire inputs are firewire 800. I have a 6-pin to 9-pin cable, and i bought an adapter to 4-pin so that it fits into the camera. But final cut won't detect the camera.

I was just wondering if there was something I was doing wrong, or if this is impossible to do? Thanks.

It's totally possible. I'd try getting a Firewire 9-4 pin cable, as it is possible either the adapter or 9-6 pin cable isn't acting correctly.

I have the Macbook pro 800firewire Port.
The 9-4pin works perfect.

9= 800 firwire port

4 for the DVX

Sometimes cables DO go bad .. I have a chord I was using for capture that just stopped working .. which means when I connect it from my computer to cam FCP tells me there's nothing connected...
