DVX anamorphic question?

I saw this kid on youtube who put the dvx anamorphic adapter on his xl2 and set the xl2 for 16x9 and he got close to 2: 35 to 1. Is this really true. It seemed weird and kinda shadey, but how do we know the guy isn't just cropping the image? Second question is would it work on a dvx if u shot squeeze more with the adapter? My best guess is that it would give u squeezed 16x9 footage.

It would. You can display it on a computer, where you can output a file with any pixel dimensions, but there is no TV/DVD player that can "unsqeeze" double squeezed footage.
