DVX always under exposed.

Whenever i expose the footage properly on the camera it comes out super dark, but when i expose almost over excessively it turns out normal. Is this just a DVX thing or is it something wrong with the settings on my camera.

Thanks .

Have you adjusted the brightness setting on the lcd/viewfinder? Right out of the box, I find that it displays too bright, making you think you're shooting lighter than you are.

Yep, I'm with horsefilms on this. Not long ago I shot a party in a dark club. Everything looked under exposed on my LCD screen and I assumed the footage I was shooting was pretty terrible. When I got home and Log and Captured my footage to my surprise the footage was just fine. Go into your menu and bump up the brightness on both the lcd/viewfinder.

Are you using the zebras feature to check exposure? Just using the VF image alone to determine exposure is a fools errand.

When I had a DVX, I set mine to 85-90%. At 90, it is just before some blow out occurs so if the peaks are at 90, you are barely safe. 85 is a good number for your subject.
