DVX 48 Hour Film Project

Hello,

The compression is horrible, but here's my team's entry in this year's 48 hour film project, Philadelphia.

PS - I'm new to compression for the web, does anyone have any pointers as to what should be the mb per minute ratio?

This mostly looks like crud because I compressed it into compressor first, lost the Mini DV tape, so I had to recompress the already compressed file through Quicktime Conversion, 192 kbs video rate, 320 by 240 screen size, to about a 10mb file.

Hope you like it. I'll post a better version up once I get into web compression more. Thanks.

Awesome work, neat little ending. what did u guys do to make the stuff shoot out? The scene where she says "what happen to your face?" it shoots at her. Did you guys win?

That'll teach me to browse this forum whilst enjoying my dinner.

Congrats on the speed of production! I'm entering this competition in Atlanta come July 15. Never done it before but looking forward to the challenge. When do they let you know where the kickoff meeting is going to be held?

Unfortunately we did not win - the contest is obviously rigged : ) (I'm joking, btw)

Anyway we shot stuff out of the bubble with this simple foam spray that the makeup person tells me is available at any Acme. It hardens, and you can blow bubbles and fill it with liquid via injections. We had someone just blow the stuff at the guys face through a tube in that one shot.

The stuff on the side of the face, is a narrowly spaced cheat = someone's squirting off screen.

Thanks, glad you liked it btw. The first scene's too slow, but anyway, I think I'm in good shape hopefully to get at least one award next year. BTW, does anyone know good resources for web compression via compressor or quicktime conversion, or do I NEED to buy Sorenson Squeeze? I'd like to post this and the two 72 hour films I did sometime soon in much better quality.

Oh and they tell you the meeting place like a few days to a week beforehand - they like keeping you on your toes. Keep checking your email and remember to check the junk mail filter.

hey that was interesting

Yes very ... eh it makes me cringe watching it.

Anway it made it into the top ten in the Insomniac Film Challenge, with possible awards pending.

Good to know heading into Filmerica.

Looked pretty good. I always dig the gory stuff! One minor thing: The continuity was off w/ the drinking of the milk. When it cuts back and forth the milk is at different levels. 48 hours doesn't give much time to perfect this stuff I know. good stuff. Tim.

good show

good show

Hey, that was pretty good. Let me guess... you drew romance, right? :) We're doing ours in about 3 weeks in Portland... team Echo!
