Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

I'll most definitely chip in. The only reason I even -have- insurance now is because of this thread. You got my $20.

Phil

p.s. If you read this thread, and went out and bought insurance but STILL don't feel like chipping in, you might have to come to terms with the fact that you are eeeeviiilll...

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Hey Everyone!

Wow! I haven't been back on here for a while. I just started reading these posts on the "Norm Li Fund". At first I thought you were joking but you were all being serious. That's super cool of you guys man. I would appreciate that so much but you all don't need to do that. BUT...if people are willing to do that, I would be the happiest guy in the world. :D

Michael, my email address is nli@q-productions.net just in case you needed it for that page.

Thanks again everyone for your wonderful and generous support.

Cheers,

Norm Li

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

This could be a interesting little article published in some video magazines and/or websites actually. A tight-knit DVXuser community helping another avid DVXuser out.

Just a thought that came to mind!

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Jarred,

Unfortunately. the Producer of that indie feature kicked me off their crew due to some kind of financial or budget problems.

Oh well.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

ok, guys, i have the link for the donation page. although theres one catch; all donations go to my paypal account (i couldnt do it any other way) but people around here know me and i hope i am respected enough that you can trust my email and paypal account to send the money right over to norm during the fund/and/or after we reach our goal. please tell me if you guys are satisfied, and if someone knows a better way, speak up.

Ummm...

Ummm...

While I agree losing all your stuff to a thief is a real pain....
And I admire the people on this forum for the admirable offer to take donations to assist...

Perhaps the donations should be for the purchase of tennant insurance, not the replacement of losses.

$13,000 + of misc equipment, yet not spending +- $200.00 for insurance..... priorities askew?

You can't stop a motivated thief, but you can prevent losing due to one.

Just a thought.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Wow, sorry to hear about your loss. I know what it's like to have things stolen. I lived in NY for 5 Years and I was robbed, beaten and dam near left for dead, so just keep in mind that you and your girlfriend didn't wake up in the middle of all what was going on and get hurt. I thank God for that. Your equitement can be replaced but your life can not. Hang in ther and God be with you.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Definitely sorry to hear about your loss.

It motivated me to make sure all my equipment was listed and covered under my homeowner's insurance.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Hi Pookie,

You're totally right.

#1 priority should be tenant's insurance. Although no excuse, I was going to get it very soon but did not get around to it yet. My fault. But it still sucks that I lost everything... :(

If I get tenant insurance now, it would be wasting money because I don't have anything for people to steal anymore. :-/

If I got a new DVX or any other computer equipment, I would definitely get tenant's insurance.

I've just been using my school's computers or internet cafe computer's lately. I'm going to buy another computer as soon as I make enough money from a part-time job (which I am still trying to look for aside from attending school).

All that aside, thanks again for everyone's support.

Norm

???

Hi Norm,

Please don't misunderstand this... but...

You post as a "guest" (not registering as a member), explaining about your $13,000 + losses, and saying you're attending school with a part time job..."using my school's computers or internet cafe computer's lately"...

.............yet...............

Colour me suspicous, but something seems odd about this.

As the good people of these forums want to help, I think that they might like to know who they are donating their hard earned money to....

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Hi Pookie,

I totally understand your concern. However, I am a registered member but I have been lazy to login so I just posted messages as guest lately. I just logged in now to show that I am actually a member here.

Regarding Q Productions, I haven't operated the company for over 10 months now since I've gone to film school. Also, Q Productions may sound bigger than it actually is. I was just a independant freelance student videographer/editor so my money was hard earned as well. Most, if not all, of my money earned was re-invested in company equipment.

Also, Vancouver Film School (which I am graduating from in 2 months) just sucked $26,000 out of my pocket in student loans. :(

Norm

Hi Norm, no offence meant to you, only a skeptical confusion of details.
I understand the student/no money problem, I graduated USC School of Cinema and Television myself many years ago, mind you, it wasn't as expensive as it is now.

Do yourself the favor of insurance, you'd be suprised at the cost of repairing the damage from an overflowing bath.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Doesn't anyone find it interesting how Norm has become so quite, for someone who was happy to accept money for his "stolen" equipment?

" would appreciate that so much but you all don't need to do that. BUT...if people are willing to do that, I would be the happiest guy in the world".

Be very careful of internet stories, remember, you've never actually met your new "best friend".

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

I have actually met Norm, in real life, he is a real person that came to one of our premiers, in case anyone has any doubts.

Re: DVX + $13,000 other stuff Stolen :(

Hi Pookie,

Yep, I went to the premiere of A r t H i s t o r y and I also bought some batteries from Jarred as well :)

Regarding being quiet, I haven't been on this site that much because I'm busy working on a few things (P.Aing for TRU CALLING, prepping for final projects at school, and moving apartments).

Also, it didn't seem like anyone was too interested to help out which was totally cool. I just let it go and wasn't about to nag or complain about it.

Anyway, if anyone is still interested in helping out a bit, that's super cool and I would totally appreciate it but if not, that's super cool as well.

Thanks,

Norm Li

Re: DVX + stuff Stolen NOW A LIST INSURANCE CO.?

Re: DVX + stuff Stolen NOW A LIST INSURANCE CO.?

Hey everyone. I was wondering if there is a comprehensive list, like how there is a list of places to buy gear, accessories, etc., there should be a list of places to secure your investment.

Is there a list that someone has started of reputable insurance companies? Wouldn't it make sense to have one or does that not make too much sense since it differs from State to State, Country to Country?

Some places I've found:

http://www.filmemporium.com/newweb/insurance/index.htm

well that's all i've found cause i have to go. But would anyone want to add to this, comment about some good places, etc. I'll be leaving for travels soon and would like to insure the camera soon.

thanks
